Emily and Holly Hinkle Excel at State Bible Quiz

Emily and Holly Hinkle, in their debut appearance at the state Bible Quiz, awed the crowd with a perfect score in the multiple choice round followed by a dominating and flawless performance in the highly competitive speed answer round in running away with the 2007 state title, the first title obtained by a team representing Scottsdale Bible Church.

Preparation and enthusiasm were keys to success with each young lady memorizing over 200 Scriptures under the preparation and guidance of coach Mrs. Hinkle, encouragement from Mr. Hinkle and sharpening of skills in training for competition with the excellent staff and students of Palmcroft Baptist Church. Their 300 point score provided a wide margin of victory in their own age range and was in fact the highest score obtained by contestants at any level. Emily and Holly will be featured in an upcoming edition of the Compass, the newsletter of Scottsdale Bible Church, and possibly presented before all five services on a Sunday to be announced. It is hoped that this example and having the reigning championship team here at SBC will spark greater interest in Awana and Scripture study for the children of the church. Six year old Amanda has also memorized about 200 Scriptures and looks forward to joining her sisters in competition once she is old enough.
