Review and Feedback

REVIEW

OVER 100 ARIZONA HOMESCHOOL MOMS REFRESHED & ENCOURAGED!
A Review of the Sharon Grimes Seminar by Nancy Manos

Friday, January 26, 2007 was a day of refreshing for many homeschooling moms (and two dads!) at Faith Family Church in Chandler.  They came from all over the state. It was truly a wonderful day!  Sharon Grimes, homeschooling mom of six from upstate New York, spent the day sharing from her heart and giving each of us a mid-year boost of encouragement and fresh vision.

We were incredibly blessed to have Sharon come and refresh us with words of encouragement.  She gave us many practical ideas we can take home and implement in our own homes and families.  Sharon was a very transparent speaker, sharing joys and trials from her own journey.  We shared tears and laughter throughout the day!

FEEDBACK

Here's what some of the ladies had to say ...

Terri S. (Sahuarita)

I really enjoyed Sharon talking about our health & how important it is to our home life that we take care of ourselves in addition to our family. I also really appreciated when she spoke about the husband brain & the wife brain & how differently they work. I think most homeschoolers that I've met often neglect their husbands for their children’s needs.

Thank you for offering this to us. I had a very enjoyable day, made a new friend (who is also a new homeschooler) & had a nice time learning or being reminded of things I already knew but often put on the back burner.

Thank you again for all your hard work & for attending to even the smallest details. The sweets were very sweet and thoughtful as was having water available and all the other things that were part of making the day special. I appreciate all that you do.

I can't even begin to think of what I enjoyed the most. It was all so excellent, from hearing about the differences between men and women to talking about we only have so many hours in a day so we can't fit EVERYTHING in, to hearing about a farm girl who stayed committed to her husband for over 50 years before he received a new heart. It was a wonderful day and truly a mid-year refresher.

All your little touches did not go unnoticed either. You really went the "extra mile". My husband enjoyed it very much too! Thanks so much.

Sharon’s transparent testimony was both refreshing and encouraging. I liked how her teaching applied not only to home schooling, but life. Her teaching for me: Spend time in God’s word each morning, take care of my husbands needs, and take care of my children. The lesson: Keep my priorities in order with my day beginning with God.

Thank you AFHE for bringing her to share with us moms. Maybe you can organize another seminar like this next year?

Kim L. (Phoenix)

Awesome and thank you for all your very hard work!!! The message the mini-conference gave was important: Woman are the heart of a family, and for that very reason, we need to take time for ourselves spiritually and physically. It is not selfish, to take care of the most precious gift God gave us, our bodies, so that we can give of ourselves with joy to our families and others. Just say 'No' sometimes to other duties is okay. Thank you for your valuable time.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Sharon Grimes. She's so down to earth and real. I especially liked "Conquering a Heart of Anger". It really hit home for me. The whole workshop was life-changing. I really hope to see her at the convention this July with some of her other workshops. Thanks so much for having her come and share.

I was so encouraged by Sharon and am very grateful that AFHE put the Refresher together! Thank you so much! As you can imagine, the Lord orchestrated me attending and really spoke to me by affirming some things for me.

I believe any Christian woman would have been encouraged and refreshed by hearing the workshops. I love how scripturally grounded Sharon's teachings are and how she says repeatedly to always test everything according to the Word, "What does the Bible say?" My husband and I had just recently had a conversation about this and Friday was a wonderful affirmation of His truth! My favorite workshop was The Legacy of a Godly Mother because it clearly demonstrated God's faithfulness when we are obedient and persevere through all the seasons.

Thank you for giving us a lovely day today. I enjoyed the affirmations I was gleaning from Sharon. I want to tell my husband how encouraged I was about how on-track we seem to be at this time—at least according to today’s teachings.
I enjoyed all of the little feminine touches and details. Thank you for your hard work and heart to help homeschooling moms.

I loved it--a great mid-year boost! Thank you so much!!! There were so many awesome things said but here are my three of my favorite things:
1. "He (baby that died) was a man sent from heaven to change my life". This was comforting to me as I just had a friend lose her baby and I am planning to forward some of this information on to her.
2. Eating healthier once you hit 40--drink lots of water and less caffeine.
3. We have to give account to God, not others--don't worry what others think.

I was pleased to be able to spend a day with other homeschool moms and listen to the encouragements of a veteran homeschool mom. Sharon was very transparent and honest about her children, herself and the way that they conduct their family. It is invaluable to know that what I am experiencing as a wife, mother and teacher - both the wonderful and the difficult - is shared by such quality people. PS - The cost was such a blessing!! Going out for lunch was perfect. You did a brilliant job!

Sandy W. (Wickenburg)

Sharon is indeed full of insight, knowledge and practical application for problem areas in your life. I left after the third workshop as I was on information overload. I guess I was expecting more of a rah, rah, lighthearted, you make it kind of workshops. I'm sure it my own misunderstanding. It doesn't change the fact that Sharon is a great speaker and a wealth of information. Thanks for your efforts.

Natalie V. (Gilbert)

Sharon was so insightful. I came away with all kinds of good tidbits, but the most helpful was the reminder that God is in everything that I do. When I let the Bible be my guide and never compromise those standards, I will be successful in my family and homeschool. Sharon also gave a great reference list for books that I will be referring to often. I am refreshed ready to continue to teach my family about our amazing savior.

Thank you for offering this day. The price made it easy to come. It was well run and looked like you spent a lot more to make it happen!

BALANCE... the key to Home Education is balance. In so many ways we can sway to the left or sway to the right, but Jesus will always bring us back to the center. Being a 'MOM', can be overwhelming, but balancing the choices, understanding the language, and providing quality time for family ministry is all encompassed in the heart of Mom... Sharon gave us many clues to finding center, and being balanced.

Thank you so much. Sharon’s gifts to me were many. God spoke to my heart His truths through her messages, so I thank you for arranging for this special day.
