ABOUT THE AFHE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
The AFHE Board of Directors highly values the role of the local homeschool group as a place where families can connect, build relationships, and encourage one another in the homeschool journey. We appreciate and esteem the men and women who lead homeschool support groups across Arizona.
AFHE hosts an annual Leadership Conference for Arizona homeschool support group leaders with the purpose of bringing group leaders together to share ideas, receive encouragement, and get updates about issues related to homeschooling in Arizona. Our desire is to equip, refresh, inspire, and show appreciation for leaders who volunteer their time serving and supporting home educating families in their local area throughout the year.
We appreciate the faithful service of homeschool group leaders to support Arizona's homeschool community!
We are grateful for the support of Grand Canyon University! GCU's generous sponsorship is helping to cover some of expenses for the day. Is your homeschool group a participant in GCU’s ALPHA Program? Participants in this free program receive access to GCU’s eual enrollment courses, an exclusive scholarship and other member benefits! Daniel Cruz, ALPHA Program Manager at Grand Canyon University, will give a brief presentation during this year's leadership conference to share information about the ALPHA program.

HOMESCHOOL LEADERSHIP IS LIKE MARRIAGE: KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GETTING INTO!
Marriage and leading a homeschool organization have a lot in common. Carol shares her insights from her 30 years of marriage and 15 years of advising homeschool leaders using Hebrews 13 as an inspiration. This opening session will encourage and remind leaders that you are doing an important but difficult job!
THE IRS AND YOUR HOMESCHOOL GROUP
Carol has helped a number of homeschooling organizations obtain tax-exempt status with the IRS and will discuss the pros and cons of 501c3 status, offer tips, helpful resources, and checklists. If your homeschool group brings in more than $5,000 a year, you may need to be paying taxes to the IRS or better yet become a tax exempt organization.
TOP(P) TIPS FOR RUNNING A HOMESCHOOL ORGANIZATION
Carol Topp will share her Top(p) 10 tips for running a homeschool organization. Included are tips on bylaws, boards, avoiding fraud, hiring workers, buying insurance, and conducting fundraisers. A handout of tips for leaders to share with your board back home will be provided.
