The 2005 Legislative Days Homeschool Rally
was attended by approximately 200 homeschooling parents and children.
Families visited and viewed the displays created by various homeschool
groups. Several speakers addressed the crowd gathered in the lobby
of the Governor's tower including:
- General George Washington (Scott Hinkle of We Make
History)
- Mike Deltenre, AFHE President
- Dorie Duff, AFHE Legislative Liaison
- Sandra Dowling, Maricopa County School Superintendent
Following the rally, homeschooling families were invited to deliver a
pie to a legislator as a thank you for their service on behalf of AFHE.
Families were also given the opportunity to participate in a tour
of the State Capitol led by Capitol Museum docents.
Homeschooling families are a vital part of Arizona's communities. This
was a great opportunity for us to present homeschooling to those who represent
us in the legislature. Thanks to all who attended this event. Thanks also
to those homeschool groups that created a display that hung in the lobby
of the Governor's lobby at the Capitol for two weeks. They were all very
professional, colorful and depicted the vibrant, active lives of homeschoolers
in the state of Arizona!
