Our first-ever Silent Auction was a huge hit in 2014 and we are making plans to host our second annual Silent Auction at the 2015 Arizona Home Education Convention.

Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Phoenix Convention Center, convention attendees will have the opportunity to bid on and purchase a fantastic assortment of items.

    HOW WILL THE SILENT AUCTION WORK?
  • The Silent Auction booth will be located in the Exhibit Hall (on the left side against the wall near the Young Entrepreneurs booths).
  • Convention attendees will have the opportunity to peruse the items up for auction and bid on them from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM Friday and from 10:00 AM to 1:25 PM Saturday
  • Attendees will receive a bidding number. You will then write your bidding number along with your first intial and last name on the bid sheet of any items for which you wish to bid.
  • Bidding will close promptly at 1:25 PM Saturday. Once bidding has closed, the Silent Auction team will highlight all of the winning names on the bid sheets and group together any that were won by the same person.
  • From 2:30-5:30 PM Saturday, attendees can go to the SIlent Auction booth to pay for and pick up their items. For items that have not been paid for and picked up by 5:30 PM Saturday, the Silent Auction team will call the next bidder on the list. All items must be picked up by 6:00 PM Saturday.
  • Winning bidders must be present after 2:30 PM Saturday or may designate someone to pick up and pay for their item(s) for them.
  • The schedule and information will be published in the convention program and we will make announcements in the Exhibit Hall over the loudspeaker periodically as well, such as when bidding is about to close or when you can pick up your items.

  • CONVENTION ADMISSION REQUIRED

    Convention admission is required to enter the Exhibit Hall and to participate in the Silent Auction.

    WHAT WILL AFHE DO WITH THE PROCEEDS?

    With a volunteer board of directors, a few key volunteer committees, and a lean budget, AFHE is able to accomplish a great deal each year in serving the Arizona homeschool community and promoting home education throughout the year. In addition, we are actively watching legislation that may affect the freedom to homeschool in our state, building relationships at the Capitol, and working to preserve the least restrictive regulations for homeschoolers in Arizona. Proceeds from the Silent Auction will go to help AFHE continue serving the Arizona homeschool community while keeping convention admission fees, exhibitor fees, and membership fees as low as possible.

    In addition, AFHE will donate a portion of the proceeds from the Silent Auction to the Home School Foundation Arizona Ambassador Fund, which helps Arizona homeschooling families who are hurting and in need.

    CAN I DONATE AN ITEM FOR THE SILENT AUCTION?

    Yes! We are accepting donations of quality, new items from support groups, individuals, businesses, organizations, family-friendly venues, and convention exhibitors. Do you have a specialized craft or skill such as quilting or woodworking? We are also accepting hand-crafted items for the silent auction. Would you like to put together a themed basket/box or donate items for one of the themed baskets AFHE would like to assemble? See below for a list of themed baskets for which AFHE is collecting donations.

    Baskets can be big or small, elaborate or simple, and should include quality items that would be of interest to homeschooling parents and families. They can be themed to represent your part of the state or an area of interest such as art, geology, elementary education, geography, history, or science. They could include art supplies, family fun activities, pampering for mom, cool stuff for guys, and so on. Or you can donate one or more items toward any of the following themed baskets AFHE hopes to put together.

    Businesses that donate an item for the Silent Auction will be invited to send us 200-250 brochures, business cards, or postcards promoting your business that will be placed on the table next to the item you have donated. With over 5,000 people in attendance, your business will receive a great deal of exposure.

    AFHE will also publish a list of those who donated to the Silent Auction on our website.

    DEADLINE TO RECEIVE DONATED ITEMS: JUNE 19, 2015

    AFHE must receive all donated items by June 19, 2015.

    Our team will prep the Silent Auction items for display and will be responsible for setting up the Silent Auction booth on Thursday, July 9. NOTE: We reserve the right to bundle items together as needed.

    AFHE is a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational corporation. Donations are tax deductible. Donation acknowledgement letters will be sent to donors later in the year.

    AFHE reserves the right to approve or decline any donation based on the appropriateness and whether it is a good fit for our event and audience.
